Week 4

Week 4

Once again, I did not shop at any store this week except for food and cleaning products. However, with summer just around the corner, I have been a little tempted to update my wardrobe and buy more clothes. Due to lots of schoolwork and limited clothing stores here in Davis, I have been able to resist the temptation to purchase more.

According to the article "Japanese Teens as Producers of Street Fashion" by Yuniya Kawamura, teens in Japan not only look up to fashion influencers that roam the streets, but also treat them as if they are celebrities. This is also seen in one of the videos shown to us during class that explained the "Kawaii" culture in Japan. I personally don't follow fashion influencers but I am interested with those who are focusing on sustainability in the fashion industry. This week, Google announced that it is partnering with luxury fashion designer Stella McCartney to reduce waste produced in this industry. Google plans to create a program that tracks a company's supply chain and provide more transparency.
